Last year, a report was published by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), according to which, our planet require 1 billion hectares of additional forest in an order to curb global warming.

On the other hand, environmentalists at Norvergence found a study published on the website named, Science, which exhibits “the planet has room for extra trees (around 1 trillion).”

Planting trees is by far the cheapest climate change solution and it would prevent global temperatures from increasing by 1.5 degree Celsius by 2050.

1 trillion trees mean a greater than 25% increase in a forested area, including more than 500 billion trees and more than 200 gigatonnes of additional carbon consumption.

Norvergence calculated that such an environmental step can cut the atmospheric carbon pool by around 25 percent.
